The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is an initiative enacted by the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990. Its mission is to coordinate public housing families with existing community resources that provide education, financial literacy, and job-skill training to achieve financial independence.
FSS rewards Participants for work ethic, determination, goal setting, and self-motivation which result in participants paying a higher percentage of their rent for an extended period of time and eventually achieve Total Self-Sufficiency.
